    Trowbridge Extended Schools

Extended Schools have a key role to play in achieving the

Every Child Matters (ECM) outcomes and the goals set out in the Children’s Plan.

This is supported by recent Ofsted surveys which found: “The majority of the schools visited had compelling case study evidence that extended services had made life changing differences to pupils that had led to better attendance and attitudes”.

The Trowbridge Cluster is committed to quality delivery of the core offer of Extended Services and is dedicated to providing the best outcomes to all children and families.

There are 3 main aspects to our activities at present:

Family Link Workers – All 22 schools across the cluster have access to Family Link worker services. Family Link Workers are able to support students and families in removing any barriers they may have to fully engaging in their child’s learning. There are currently 17 Family Link Workers working in Trowbridge schools.

Freetime Subsidy – Trowbridge Primary and Secondary Schools are all involved in a Pathfinders project with the Training and Development Agency, which is aiming to increase the involvement of all young people in activities of their choice, outside of school hours.

Multi Agency Drop in Clinic – In-school support to secondary students giving young people the opportunity to access services and support and guidance on issues that matter to them including health, careers, diet, friendship worries and relationship issues. This support is easily accessible at a time and place where the students feel most comfortable.

"Trowbridge schools have embraced the Extended Schools agenda with great enthusiasm. Our perspective has been driven by our shared desire to remove barriers to learning and to remove barriers to engagement. Our success with ‘Extended Schools’ has strengthened our vision to work together in the interest of every child and young person across the whole community. We still want what is best for our own schools but recognise that this is more readily achieved in a collaborative climate where openness promotes success for all."
